On March 1st, in Aula Magnifica of  the Free International University of Moldova (ULIM), under the High Patronage of the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova, took place the international seminar “The Brain Drain: How to make the Young Graduates come back to their country of origin? Strategies and Experiences”.

On March 1st, in Aula Magnifica of  the Free International University of Moldova (ULIM), under the High Patronage of the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova, took place the international seminar “The Brain Drain: How to make the Young Graduates come back to their country of origin? Strategies and Experiences”. The event was organized by the Office for Central and Eastern Europe (BECO) of the Francophone University Agency (AUF), in partnership with ULIM.

 

This seminar is an absolute premiere in the Republic of Moldova because it brings together academic stuff, officials, experts, young professionals emigrated aboard and specialists from Moldova at the same table of discussions. The seminar aimed to raise awareness of the Parliament, Government, academic stuff, economic agents on problems of emigration of young graduates, a phenomenon that has reached the maximum level in the recent years. The participants examined the positive experience of other countries that managed to face this phenomenon and develop recommendations for decision-making bodies.

The inauguration of the seminar included the ceremony of awarding the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to Mr. Bernard Cerquiglini, Rector of the Francophone University Agency (AUF) for fruitful work in supporting Francophone academic projects in Central and Eastern European countries. Famous personalities attended  this event of major importance: Interim President of the Republic of Moldova, His Excellency Mr. Marian Lupu; Vice-Minister of Education Mr. Loretta Handrabura; Prime Vice-Rector of ULIM, Member of Parliament Mrs. Ana Gutu; Rector of ULIM Mr. Andrei Galben; Director of BECO, Mr. Abderrahmane Rida; Minister of Youth and Sport, Mr. Ion Cebanu; Vice-minister of Economy, Mr. Sergiu Ciobanu; Vice-minister of Labour, Social Protection and Family, Mr. Sergiu Sainciuc; Consultant at the International Organization for Migration, Mrs. Viorica Olaru-Cemartan, as well as other experts from France, Morocco, Senegal, Armenia, Rectors of the universities that are members of the  Francophone University Agency, professors and students.
